CB Scheme for Consumer Products

As a member of the international CB Scheme, TÜV Product Service provides services from our laboratories in Germany, United Kingdom and the United States.

In the United States, TÜV Product Service is one of a few U.S. based members of the CB Scheme, with its Massachusetts and California facilities providing testing to IEC 950 (IT and Office Equipment (OFF)). This accreditation provides clients the ability to gain global market acceptance by utilizing one U.S. based laboratory to test their IT and office equipment to IEC 950, receiving CB certification that is accepted by over 40 member countries.

After successful testing with TÜV Product Service, a CB certificate with a CB test report is issued. With this internationally valid certificate, manufacturers can apply to any CB Scheme member worldwide to receive their national certification mark. In addition, the test results of these National Certification Bodies are recognized in many countries that are not members of the CB Scheme.

About the CB Scheme
The International CB Scheme was created to assist manufacturers in gaining rapid approval for foreign markets, which is vital to marketing a product globally. To overcome international trade barriers for electrotechnical equipment, the leading electrotechnical testing organizations worldwide joined together to form the CB Scheme (Certification Bodies). The result was the formation of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) CB Scheme.

Today, National Certification Bodies recognize each other's test results when issuing national certification marks. With over 27,000 CB Scheme certificates issued globally in 2002, manufacturers are saving time and money in accessing new markets with testing completed by one member of the CB Scheme, which will then be accepted by over 40 member countries.
